Our Get Safe graduates

WCP Admin

Take a look at what we've been up to

As our Get Safe training sessions come to an end, we want to take a moment to recognize the hard work and participation of everyone involved!

Throughout these sessions, participants have had the opportunity to strengthen important personal safety skills, learn how to recognize potentially unsafe situations, practice setting boundaries, and develop strategies to advocate for themselves. Through interactive lessons, group discussions, and hands-on activities, participants have gained valuable knowledge they can carry into their everyday lives.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Get Safe instructors for their dedication, patience, and commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment.

Although our sessions are wrapping up, the skills learned will continue to be reinforced throughout our program and during community outings. We are proud of our participants for their involvement and look forward to seeing them continue to build confidence, independence, and safety awareness in their daily lives!

Important Events

Monthly Outings

The holiday season is right around the corner, and we're getting a head start on the festivities! In November, participants will have the opportunity to get creative with a special Christmas-themed activity. This will be a fun way to explore creativity and make something special in preparation for the holiday season. We can't wait to see everyone's unique creations and spread a little holiday cheer!

Home Reminders

Please keep in mind

Please keep participants home if they are feeling unwell to help prevent the spread of illness. If symptoms are related to seasonal allergies rather than sickness, please notify the office so staff are aware. Thank you for helping keep everyone healthy!

Program Updates: Group & Staffing Changes

Administrative Staff

We would like to take a moment to inform our participants, families, and caregivers of some recent changes taking place at Work Creation Program.

As we continue to welcome new participants into our program, we have also experienced staffing changes, including the departure of some Job Coaches and the addition of new team members. With these changes, we are currently working on restructuring several groups to better accommodate participant needs, improve transportation routes, reduce unnecessary travel time, and create more efficient group arrangements.

We understand that changes in familiar routines, group members, and Job Coaches can sometimes be challenging for participants and their families. We sincerely apologize for any confusion, inconvenience, or disruption these adjustments may have caused. Please know that these decisions are being made thoughtfully, with the goal of maintaining a positive, supportive, and productive program experience for everyone.

We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we make these necessary adjustments. Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work to strengthen our program and better serve our participants!

Recognizing Ivan for his dedication and leadership in the community

We recently received wonderful feedback from Isabelle at FAM, one of our volunteer worksites in San Clemente. She shared how much the organization appreciates Ivan and his group, noting that the volunteers are always happy to see them arrive because of how helpful they are.

Isabelle specifically recognized Ivan for keeping his group organized, prepared, and engaged throughout their volunteer activities. She also praised his patience and willingness to take the time to teach participants new tasks, helping them develop skills and confidence along the way.

Receiving positive feedback directly from our community partners is a wonderful reminder of the impact our Job Coaches make beyond the program. Ivan's dedication not only supports the growth of his participants but also strengthens the relationships we build within our community.

Thank you, Ivan, for representing Work Creation Program so positively and for the care and commitment you bring to your group each day. Keep up the amazing work!

Small actions, big impact

This month, we're proud to recognize one of our participants for her thoughtfulness, initiative, and willingness to help without being asked!

She has demonstrated a wonderful ability to recognize when something needs attention and take action on her own. During a recent Get Safe session, she noticed trash left behind in the meeting room and, without any prompting from staff, took the initiative to pick it up and throw it away.

While this may seem like a small gesture, it reflects her growing independence, awareness of her surroundings, and consideration for others. It's these everyday moments that show how meaningful even the smallest actions can be.

Thank you for taking initiative and helping keep our shared spaces welcoming for everyone. Keep up the great work!
